The Journal of Third Military Medical University (Di-San Junyi Daxue Xuebao), is a peer-reviewed, general medical journal for all physicians, researchers, and health workers, regardless of medical specialty. Established in 1979 and published semimonthly by Third Military Medical University in Chongqing, China, it is one of the oldest academic journals in China. All articles are published in Chinese, and original research articles are published with English abstracts. The copyright page and contents of each issue are also published in English in every issue.

Scope and Aims

 

 

The Journal of Third Military Medical University, published twice a month, is a peer-reviewed, general medical journal for all physicians, researchers, and health-care workers, from any medical specialty. The journal contributes to the scientific advancement of medicine by disseminating high quality research and scholarship of contemporary relevance and with potential to advance knowledge for medical sciences. The journal encourages submissions from all areas related to the medical sciences, including basic and clinical medicine, military medicine, high-altitude medicine, preventive medicine, traditional Chinese medicine and herbs, pharmacology, stomatology, public health, epidemiology, and biomedical engineering.

Columns

 

 

 

In addition to original articles in basic, clinical, and preventive medicine, the Journal features several regular columns: Expert Reviews, written by experts at the request of the editor; Special Reports, a group of original articles on same subject; Techniques and Methods, introducing new or modified techniques or methods; Experience and Communication, reporting experience in clinical diagnosisand treatment; Case Reports, rare cases or unusual presentations of common conditions, or intractable cases; and News and Notes, some news about our university or suggestions to authors and readers by our editors.

 

Contributors

 

Most of the original research articles originate from medical science institutes in provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities throughout China. Others report research conducted cooperatively with foreign laboratories. About half of the published research is funded by grants from the Chinese national or provincial government.

 

Circulation

 

The Journal of Third Military Medical University (Di-San Junyi Daxue Xuebao) is distributed domestically and internationally, to about 1900 and 40 subscribers, respectively. Subscribers are major medical journal publishers, research institutions, and hospitals and libraries in China. All articles are available without charge on our website,http://aammt.tmmu.edu.cn/en/oa/OAML.aspx, where they are posted at the time of publication. According to the China National Knowledge Infrastructure, a full-text online server, the 2783 institutional users who view the journal on-line come from 13 countries and regions. Most are universities (including Harvard and Yale), hospitals, and research institutes. Individual viewers come from 35 countries and regions.

According to the data in the 2011 Chinese Scientific and Technical Journal Citation Reports (the Chinese version of Journal Citation Reports), papers published in our journal were cited 3153 times in 2010. The impact factor is 0.668. Among all 51 academic journals of medical colleges and universities in China, the Journal has the first highest comprehensive evaluation and the third highest impact factor.
